Sketchbook
Sketchbook Assignments – (total: 12) will occurs weekly and should be completed in the class sketchbook. These will be collected at the midterm and final for evaluation. There are also 2 Reflection Papers that look at use and role of sketching in the practice of architects and designers.
The purpose of these assignments is to assist in the development of drawing, ideation (idea development), presentation, and visual communication skills. Sketchbook assignments are intended to build the visual thinking skillsets through weekly practice, and respond to weekly reading assignments taken from the Visual Notebook, by by Norman Crowe and Paul Laseau. The sketchbook constitutes 25% of the final grade for the course.

Problems
Problems – (total: 3) are the core component of this course. The problems progress in complexity and address fundamental design principals, color theory, perspective, color rending, introductory schematic design development and presentation. The first two problems occur pre-midterm, and the third problem runs the second half of the semester. The problems constitute 60% of the final grade for the course.

Quizzes
Quizzes – (total: 5) are based on readings, lectures and demonstrations. These will be taken in BBLearn. The quizzes together constitute 15% of the final grade for the course. See course schedule and BBLearn for timely completion of quizzes.
